What does randomization do to this game?

The player will be given a character and a zone to start with. The remaining characters and zones will be shuffled into the AP item pool along with the chaos emeralds. To goal, the player must receive the chaos emeralds and defeat the final boss.

When the player receives an item, what happens?

Items are immediately given to the player upon collection. Zones have no visual indicator for when they're collected. All zones will redirect to the player's starting zone until collected. Chaos emeralds will immediately appear in the player's inventory on the zone select screen. If a character is received while on the character select screen, the player will need to exit the character select screen and return to see the change.
