Xenoblade X
What do I need to do to randomize Xenoblade X?
See full instructions on the setup page.
Where is the options page?
The player options page for this game contains all the options you need to configure and export a config file.
What does randomization do to this game?
- You can get items by:
- Completing Map Segments
- Missions
- Treasure
- FN-Sites
- Tyrants
- Affinity Missions
- Fully researching Monster (By killing them 1-3 times according to your
Enemy Index) - Visiting Locations
- Completing
Collectopedia
- Completing Map Segments
- You receive the following items:
- Classes, Arts, Skills
- Dataprobes
- Field Skill Levels
- Skell Armor, Weapons, Augments, Frames
- Armor, Weapons, Augments
- Friendship Levels
- Overdrive, FrontierNav, Progressive License (BladeLicense, Skell License, Flight Module)
- The following changes have been made:
- Mission Rewards, Treasures, Enemies no longer drop items
- Field Skills, Arts, Overdrive, FrontierNav, BladeLicense, Skell License, Flight Module are no longer obtainable through the story and missions
- Class, Friendship, Character (if enabled) experience can no longer be obtained
- Skells are now delivered without any armor or weapons
- Shop Terminal is disabled
- Arms Manufacturer Terminal is disabled except for
Upgrade Battle Traits - For equipment these changes are not effective if disabled in the options
- Whenever you get equipment via Archipelago the traits will be seeded according to the possible traits from within the game. This means that you can only get the traits, that specific piece would have if it were dropped from the usual place inside the game. However every item drop has a unique chance at a higher rarity depending on the enemy it dropped from. Therefore it's fixed at the maximum chance of 5%.
Archipelago only updates when overworld time is progressing.
What is the goal of Xenoblade X when randomized?
Finish the story and defeat the final boss. You will complete your goal when you finished the credits and cutscenes.
What do items look like in Xenoblade X?
You can't see the items you get yet, but you will be notified through in-game text messages whenever you find or receive an item.
What's the meaning of all the names for locations and items?
Generally, the items and locations are categorized using special abbreviated prefixes. These enable you to quickly tell what you got and where something can be found. To aid that process there will be additional data as well.
Items
All items belong to the following categories:
- CLP = Collectopedia
- SEG = Segments
- EBK = Enemy Book
- FNO = FN-Nodes
- LOC = Locations Most of the locations contain additional information on where to find it. They might contain a region of the following categories:
- Prim = Primordia
- Noct = Noctilum
- Obli = Oblivia
- Sylv = Sylvalumn
- Caul = Cauldros They might contain a required chapter, weather, location or mission.
Locations
All locations belong to the following categories:
- SKF = Skell Frames (Ares 90, ...)
- FLDSK = Field Skills (Mechanical 2-5, ...)
- ART = Weapon Arts (Sliding Slinger, ...)
- KEY = Most important items (FNet, ...)
- WPN = Weapons
- SKWPN = Skell Weapons
- SKAMR = Skell Armor
- SKL = Skill (Your passives)
- FRD = Friend Levels 1-5
- DP = Dataprobes
- IMPIT = Important Items (Mostly Quest Items)
- AUG = Augments
- AMR = Armor
- SKAUG = Skell Augments
- CL = Class
What is the general progression?
In general, the logic expects you to reach anything that is possible, so there is no handholding here. If you can reach it without needing any further items, it is in logic, even if it requires a lot of effort.
Beginning
At first, you should focus on becoming stronger. You can level up and receive arts, skills, armor, and weapons
and maybe a few augments if you get lucky with slots in your weapons and armor. You can play through the story until the
end of Chapter 3. The best way to get checks in the early game is to uncover new in-game locations, kill enemies for the
Enemy Index and complete some basic segments through early game missions, low level treasure and low level tyrants. You will be
very weak and will struggle to kill even basic enemies. You cannot venture outside Primordia until you complete Chapter 3.
During Chapter 2, you will notice that you don't unlock the Frontier-Nav. This has significant implications because you will receive all the
capabilities of it through the item KEY: Fnet. This includes fast travel, viewing the region maps with quest markers, installing dataprobes,
getting Fnet in-game locations and progressing the quest Probe-fessional. After Chapter 2 you will also not receive the Blade License
This means you cannot raise your Blade Lvl and are therefore unable to complete the quest Blade Level Basics. You also cannot interact
with Blade Terminals, the mission terminal, the shop terminals, and the Blade Barracks terminal.
Early Game
After completing Chapter 3, you can no longer progress in the story until you find both your KEY: Fnet and your first KEY: Progressive License (Blade License).
Both of these items can be very hard to get, but they are very beneficial because they open up many more locations.
Getting these items, however, can be a long task, and you might have to venture deep into late-game areas like Cauldros. Because this game has so many
locations, it's not really feasible to do all the locations to stumble onto them and the default hinting system does a very poor job at aiding you.
To receive a hint, you need to check 10% of the available locations. In the full setup, that means checking approximately 250 locations, which can take hours. So I would recommend a
much lower hint threshold. Once you have reached your hint threshold through the same locations described in the Beginning, you can decide
which KEY item you want to focus on. With the Fnet, you unlock all the in-game locations from the FN-Nodes and gain the ability to unlock the
Fnet-Segments if you have the required Field Skill Lvl and access to Miranium. Otherwise you can look for the Blade License which enables
you to complete Collectopedia locations and interact with various terminals, to upgrade your gear or add augment slots with Miranium.
Try to gradually improve your characters with weapons, armor, skills, arts, and classes, and level up. Exp Augments might help you make better use of other characters.
Because it is very hard to target specific items, you should try to focus on the easy and fast ones to prioritize quantity over quality. Don't be afraid of going
to other regions early because there are still a lot of locations that are easy to get. Keep in mind though that it can take a while running between regions.
Once you have those items, you can start Chapter 4.
Mid Game
Once you finish Chapter 4, you are only locked by soft checks until the end of Chapter 10.
To continue, you mostly need one out of five affinity levels with Lao FRD: Lao, which you will probably already have at this point,
to start the affinity mission The Matchmaker for Chapter 8. You also need to complete segments and
affinity missions, which should not be too hard for you. You can decide to take some detours to get either the second KEY: Progressive License (Skell License),
which allows you to pilot Skells, if you received specific skell models as items.
Just use the garage terminal. All skell equipment can be received through AP if enabled. Or get the KEY: Overdrive to grant you access
to the Overdrive ability in combat. After that, you should look for the WPN: Soldier Assault Rifle; this is required for the affinity mission Boot Camp for Chapter 11.
The item exists multiple times, and all of them work, but the WPN: Soldier Assault Rifle_1 is the one in logic. Don't be afraid of selling items for credits because all weapons and armor required for quest chains are not sellable.
If you sell anything else, however, it will be gone forever, and you will not get more of it.
Similarly you need FRD: Gwin for this affinity mission.
End Game
For Chapter 12 you need to unlock both the third KEY: Progressive License (Flight Module) and finish the missions The Skell License and A Girl's Wings. Usually during these quests you would be put into a
skell. This is disabled for AP, which also means that you have to complete A Girl's Wings with your own skell instead. Be careful to only start this affinity mission if you have a skell.
Otherwise you might run into the issue mentioned in Known Issues.
You don't need the Flight Module to get on top of Talon Rock.
For the submissions for The Skell License, you should watch for the 15k credits to arrive in one Fnet tick,
which only requires a few FN-Nodes and Dataprobes, as well as slaying the grexes with a specific weapon.
There are three options available: WPN: Trial Knife, WPN: Trial Sword, and WPN: Trial Assault Rifle.
After that you need the Flight Module and a skell to not take a bath at the start of Chapter 12. Now you can finish the game.
Advanced Tech
There are three techniques that are included in logic that you should know about.
First, there is the Target Assisted Jump (TAJ), which enables you to jump in midair with the skell to a certain degree.
This enables you to get to a lot of hard to reach areas without a Flight Module such as Talon Rock, Cavernous Abyss, Divine Roost, ...
Second there is the ability to switch your gear and reset your fall speed while doing it. This allows you to jump a lot further than you usually would.
For example, you can reach Sandsprint Cavity without a skell.
Third there is the ability to jump upwards very steep slopes on ground so you can reach areas like Slavebird Island or Atop the Giant Ring.
In general, locations are only in logic with these techniques if I can perform them with relative ease.
Video Overview.
Don't worry about it if you can't do them when you start. In the very unlikely case that you need them to progress you can always pick them up or
if you struggle with them just enable a few graphic packs to aid you.
Important Items
If you enable the option IncludeImportantItems, you will have many more missions that require items from AP.
In general, you cannot obtain important items through the normal in-game methods. In some quests you can skip steps because you bypass the original way to get these items.
The Skell License for example does only ask for the 8 certificates, you don't have to do any of the proficiency quests.
When a cutscene would normally activate after you obtain a specific item, you will instead be teleported to the appropriate location if you fulfill the request.
Tips
There are many things I could recommend here, but I will try to keep it brief.
Locations
The most important thing I would recommend is that you keep the enabled locations as is. Most people assume that you are doing better if you shrink the checks as much as possible. This has two effects. First, you dramatically decrease the chances of getting equipment. There is a large number of progression items, and only if they are all included can you fill the pool with equipment. Second, you will have a much harder time getting the locations that are in your world now because clearing segments is difficult and slow. The drawback of having many locations is that you will have most of the progression items from other worlds as well, but they can hint what they want and you can pick them up if you are ready without doing too much other locations. If you really want only the Segment locations, you should probably remove gear from the item pool that you can obtain the vanilla way (except from shops).
Hint Threshold
Try to set the hint threshold as low as possible; even the 5% threshold is already uncomfortable to use. Your main priority should probably be FNet and after that the Progressive License.
Other Players
If you are playing this in a sync, you should be aware that your playtime is much longer than everyone else's. People with short games that can BK early should be encouraged to play more games, especially if they want to play for a comparable amount of time. You will probably find yourself in a situation where other players will hint for stuff that is very hard to get for you at the time. From experience I would really carefully consider if you are able to do that reasonably soon. If not, you should just focus on your own progression and disregard the fact that the other player is in BK. Because your progression is so slow, you will mostly be behind the others and cannot really take shortcuts in this.
External tools
This game is huge so you will probably struggle a lot to judge where a specific location is. I tried to embed as much information inside each location as possible, without placing everything in there. But that does not replace a tracker which is currently not fully ready. So if you struggle to find something there are two websites I would recommend.
Quality of Life
There are a few in-game changes to facilitate faster gameplay. These are not there to remove gameplay aspects but rather to avoid tedium. Some of these are enabled through graphic packs. Some of them can be configured.
- Skells refuel all the way in the Blade Barracks.
- Augmenting your equipment no longer consumes miranium. You still need to obtain the required amount.
- Running speed is increased.
- Tp are maxed on teleport and reload.
- Damaged skells get recovered on teleport and party change.
- Battle point gain is increased.
- Exp gain is increased (Only effective if levels are not present).
- Segments are touchable by default.
- Materials drop more often.
- Drop boxes appear more often.
- Affinity missions dont lock your party and you can accept as many as you want.
What's next?
- Add Shop items to the available locations.
- Add Schematics/Blueprints to the item pool.
- Add Basic Quests to the available locations.
Known Issues
- The
AS0115 Formula XTcan somehow not be configured in the garage. - The main inventory can display items of the weapon and armor categories for skells and characters incorrectly. They correctly appear in the corresponding equip menus though.
- If you enable all the Items and disable all the Locations you will be unable to fit all the progression items into the Multiworld. The generation will fail.
- You might be unable to enter your skell for unkown reasons.
