Blockupelago Setup Guide

Required Software

• A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)
• Access to the Blockupelago Archipelago client (web-based)

Connecting to a Server

1. Open the Blockupelago client in your web browser
2. In the Archipelago panel, enter:
   • Host: The server address (e.g., archipelago.gg or localhost)
   • Port: The server port (default: 38281)
   • Slot Name: Your player name from the YAML
   • Password: Room password (if required)
3. Click Connect

Gameplay

Objective

Place polyomino pieces onto a grid to clear rows, columns, and 3x3 boxes. Reach the goal score to complete your Archipelago run!

Controls

• Click a piece to select it
• Click on the grid to place the selected piece
• Hover over grid to see placement preview (green = valid, red = invalid)

Items You Can Receive

• Piece Types: Unlock new polyomino shapes (Single, Dominoes, Trominos, Tetrominos, Pentominos, 3x3 pieces)
• Grid Size: Unlock larger grids (6x6 → 7x7 → 9x9)
• Piece Slots: See more pieces at once (up to 5)
• Abilities:
  • Rotate Ability: Rotate pieces before placing
  • Undo Ability: Undo your last move
  • Remove Block: Remove a single block from the grid
  • Mirror Ability: Flip pieces horizontally before placing
  • Hold Ability: Drag a piece to hold for later use (costs gems)
  • Shrink Ability: Shrink any piece into a single block
• Score Multipliers: Permanent score boosts (+10%, +25%, +50%)

Locations (Checks)

Checks are sent to the multiworld when you reach milestones:

• Score Milestones: 500, 1000, 2000, 3000... up to 50,000 points
• Line Clears: Clear 1, 3, 5, 10, 15... up to 1250 lines (rows/columns)
• Box Clears: Clear 1, 3, 5, 10... up to 300 3x3 boxes (9x9 grid only)
• Combos: Clear multiple lines/boxes at once (1, 3, 5, 10... up to 50 combos)
• Pieces Placed: Place 10, 25, 50, 75... up to 5000 pieces

Tips

• Start with simple pieces to build up your item pool
• Combos give bonus points - try to clear multiple lines/boxes at once
• Larger pieces score more but are harder to place
• The 9x9 grid with 3x3 boxes gives the highest scoring potential
• Save your abilities for when you really need them!
